Banasura Sagar Solar Project In Kerala

Banasura Sagar Solar Project In Kerala

Floating Solar Plant In Kerala

The biggest floating solar plant in our country is situated in the Banasura Sagar Reservoir. The location of this dam is in the Wayanad district. This dam was built in order to support the Kakkayam hydroelectric power plant and at the same time to provide water for irrigation and drinking water.

Features Of Banasura Sagar Solar Project

The Banasura Sagar Solar Project is done by the Kerala State Electricity Board. This solar plant can produce power up to 7.5 Lakhs annually. The solar panels are floated with the help of Ferro cement floaters. So they can be kept safe.

The solar panels are kept in the water will help to reduce the maintenance work. If a solar panel is kept in the ground or rooftop we need to clean the dust to increase the energy efficiency of solar panels. Here inside of dam, there will be less dust. The total cost of this project was around 9.25 crores. The solar panels will contribute electricity to the nearby areas with the help of underwater cables.

India's Largest Floating Solar Plant In Kerala - Banasura Sagar Reservoir

The KSEB took great effort to implement renewable energy based power generation in Kerala. The best result for this work is accomplished. The largest floating solar plant in India is installed in Banasura Sagar Reservoir.

The solar panels are kept on the Ferro-cement floaters. The total area covered by this project is 6000 square meters. The solar panels are highly efficient and produce almost 7.5 Lakh units of electricity annually. The panels have less amount of dust compared to other solar panels.

The largest floating solar plant in India is situated in Wayanad. To know more about this please visit the below link.

Solar Energy News -100 KW Solar Power Plant By Cochin Port Trust

Solar Energy Power Plant By Cochin Port Trust - A Motivational Move

Solar Energy News -100 KW Solar Power Plant By Cochin Port Trust

Cochin port trust is showing a good example in case of energy consumption by using solar energy for their various needs.  CPT already commissioned a power plant using solar energy in last March.  It was a plant constructed at a cost of about 1 crore Indian rupees. The plant capacity is 150kW and they are using this energy for meeting the energy requirement of Cochin Port Trust quarters.

Now CPT is planning to build the second power plant with a capacity of 100 Kilo Watt. This time CPT is constructing this solar energy power plant in its pump house located at Willington Island in Cochin, Kerala. The budget calculated for this plant is 85 lakhs INR. CPT is trying to reduce the power consumption from Kerala State Electricity Board. Their target is to bring the power procurement from KSEB down by at least twenty percent.  So they are planning to install more solar energy power plants in future. This good move by CPT is motivational to other organizations as well as to the public to install solar panels on their rooftops; as the hydroelectric power generation in our state is not able to meet the huge demand of energy consumption in Kerala.

100 KW Solar Power Plant

This good move from Cochin Port Trust will help the people in Willington Island. Providing power to people in remote areas using solar energy is the less expensive way. And now government agencies are providing such a good option for people living in remote areas. The return on investment in this project is really high. The solar energy which is an unending source of energy will help them to yield clean energy easily. One of the main advantages of the solar power plant is that we can increase the number of solar panels according to our needs. We wish to have more solar power plants in Kerala by which the power scarcity can be reduced.
